Announcing DMA’s Made by Girls Scholarship

By Peggy Lee

Our Made by Girls program is dedicated to empowering girls. We know that girls who study STEM subjects (like Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) have greater confidence, perform better in school and have more resilience in the face of adversity.

Made by Girls is dedicated to building confidence in girls.

DMA is proud to announce the Made by Girls scholarship, which will award five girls (ages 8-17) the opportunity to join our Made by Girls program this summer, with all tuition expenses paid.

We’re looking for girls who are passionate about using technology to express their creativity and build a better world. We believe we can make a difference in helping girls realize their potential.

We ask applicants to let us know how being a part of our program would help them to realize their goals. (No prior programming or coding skills required.)

Girls in the program work closely with role models and learn in a supportive community. “I liked how it was a learning environment where we could explore and be creative,” says Samantha, 15.

Five scholarships will be awarded to girls to attend a Made by Girls course. Entrants must submit either an essay (500 word minimum) and/or a short video in response to the prompt: “I want to join Made by Girls because…” and complete the scholarship application form.

We’re eager to meet our new class of Made by Girls scholars! Each Made by Girls course is led by a female role model and features a central project. Girls in our program can build their own apps or games, explore wearable tech and fashion design, or make interactive art masterpieces.
