DMA SNAPshot: The Communication Generation

By Phill Powell

You see them coming and going here and there, and always clutching their smartphone or tablet to them. These are members of the Communication Generation, and they expect to have constant access to their electronic gizmos.

Any time is a good time to check your messages…even when you’re sitting in a tree.

At Digital Media Academy, we never forget that although we’re summer camps, first and foremost, we are technology camps. And when kids and teens come to our tech camp locations, they bring their smartphones and tablets and other electronics gear. And that’s not a problem!

It’s true there’s a time and place for everything (like checking messages), but we like to think our students are advanced enough to know when it’s the right time for a digital break.

These pix from various DMA tech camp locations show how electronics are never far from our campers’ hearts:

IT’S TABLET TIME

These girls are excited about checking their tablet, maybe reviewing a project created to show they could design apps for iPhone and iPad.

EVEN OUTDOOR REC TIME IS TECH TIME

At a tech camp like DMA, we’re dedicated to the belief that more tech exposure benefits kids and teens.

A SUMMER TECH CAMP BUILT FOR YOU

Giving kids enough breaks to check personal calls and online sites is just another way that DMA tries to tailor the ideal camp experience for our students.
