Canon Announces New 4K Camera

By Ryan Koss

Nowadays, “high definition” just doesn’t cut it. From computers and laptops to smartphones and tablets, manufacturers have been raising the bar when it comes to resolution.

With the ability to shoot in breathtaking 4K resolution, you will never miss a detail.

It should be no surprise then to see that Canon® will be releasing a 4K camera for the consumer market.

Canon & 4K
Recently spotted at an event in China, Canon’s new 4K camera sports a compact design and a fixed 8.9-89mm f/2.8 lens accompanied by a 1-inch CMOS sensor. Canon’s unnamed camera also features a removable grip, perfect for shooting in tight spaces or filming on the go.

Canon’s newest camera features a large external viewfinder and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Learning to use a DSLR camera can be challenging, but using Canon gear can make it easier. With its sleek form factor and top-of-the-line specs, it looks like independent and students filmmakers may have found the camera of their dreams. Although this is not the first 4K camera to come from Canon, it is the first intended for consumer, rather than commercial, use.

Is it possible that Canon is aiming to enter the drone and aerial photography market with this camera? We will have to wait and find out once Canon officially announces its 4K flagship camera in the U.S. later this year.
