Don’t let Swarthmore fool you. Sure, at first glance the Pennsylvania campus might look like an endlessly huge serenity garden, but that’s not the whole story. Because this summer, Swarthmore College once again plays host to Digital Media Academy’s tech camp program. The whole campus will be humming with activity as DMA campers explore their creative passions in a range of subjects—like making movies.
For kids and teens that want to get into filmmaking, DMA offers a variety of Swarthmore film camps:
DMA tech camps deliver concentrated education courses led by instructors who have direct professional experience in the courses they teach. Students use the latest versions of the leading software programs used by the film industry. Classwork is project-based, and campers return home with copies of the films they’ve created.
Scenic Location/Vacation Destination
Swarthmore’s 425-acre campus is situated within Scott Arboretum, and features rolling lawns, a creek, wooded hills and assorted hiking trails. Students can also stroll oak-lined Magill Walk or venture into downtown Swarthmore, before stopping by Borough Hall to discover the fascinating history behind Swarthmore. Back on campus, students can visit the Scott Amphitheater or one of three libraries.
Swarthmore is located in the borough of Swarthmore, 11 miles southwest of Philadelphia. Families visiting Swarthmore can find lots of fun things to do in Philadelphia or in Delaware County—especially if they have an interest in the Revolutionary War and its battlefields. And just down the road is Philadelphia, with the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and other Philadelphia tourist attractions.
Have a Very Swarthmore Summer!
Digital Media Academy’s Summer 2013 program at Swarthmore takes place from July 22nd through August 2nd. Remaining class spaces are still available in some DMA tech camps.
